Friends of the Casa Materna

The Friends of the Casa Materna is a U.S. based non-profit 501(c)(3) organization that raises funds for the Casa Materna. Founded in 2000 this group's mission is to channel support to the mothers, newborns and staff of the Casa Materna Mary Ann Jackman in Matagalpa, Nicaragua with the goal of reducing maternal and infant mortality. Money is raised through many generous individual donors in addition to a variety of grants.

A diverse group from throughout the U.S.A. serves on the board of the Friends of the Casa helping to support and promote the Casa and its mission.

The Casa Materna also receives kind and generous support from many international friends through funding of various programs and grants. The graph to the right shows a break down of donations by country from the 2008 fiscal year.

Self sustaining projects:

In addition, the Casa Materna has several self sustaining projects including the Casita (a bed & breakfast adjacent to the Casa Materna), selling of handmade babyslings, and rental of the new auditorium.

In 2009, thanks to our generous donors, we received $126,912.56. The outflow of money was distributed in the following way:
